Sounds to me like he was alluding to 1) Campaign every 6 months 2) Monthly skill balances (LAWL) 3) GW2 Beta by end of 2008, etc...

I'm glad for the news. I feel like the rewards is going to be something like a house/shrine that is dedicated to you and only you that can use it. Storage upgrade is also possible in the sense that you get a spot somewhere from your ancestor that you can utilize to keep your items or something.
Another possible thing is that, maybe in GW 2 there will be a custom made weapon unlock. For example, the one that completed certain title, and thus, rack up some points will be able to purchase item using the point. This item can be use in a way that enable you to fuse to your weapon to give certain distinct characteristic that was belonged to your ancestor.
For example, a normal sword that is already fused with the item previously unlocked, can have a huge destroyer sword's aura around it with minimal benefit in combat, such as, giving any random Warrior near you with minor attack+1 or something.

Malchior's summary
Hall of Monuments-When you create your GW 2 account, you will link a GW 1 account to it. You will get an item to double-click to take you to your GW 2 HoM. You will get points for things you did in GW 1. With number of points, you unlock rewards in GW 2. A full HoM guide will be going up VERY SOON on the GW 2 website, with pictures and details of rewards. It does not take a full hall to receive rewards.
Apparently "VERY SOON" in all CAPS to a developer means "more than two weeks" from Aug. 22nd. Why say things like this at all? Just release it when you release it.

Probably to build hype and suspense. This HoM guide might be released after PAX when GW2 is more well known and non-GW'ers might be inclined to pick up GW1 to earn some of those rewards.
Exciting times.

Well unfortunately they couldn't really say anything else. If they didn't say "very soon" people will keep asking when ; if they said "in a few months" people would have said "QQ why does it take so long ? If it took so long then you should have announced it when it was ready"....but then if they don't say anything unless it's going to be released really soon people will keep asking for informations....
So in the end they chose to give us a little bit of information on something that has been asked again and again...and again. But giving us so little information leads to a lot of misinformation that leads to whining.
But then again who cares about whiners...some haven't even played GW in more than 6 months, some have said that GW was dying since NF (then HM, then GWEN, then Ursan...). So yeah, it's impossible to please everyone.
I prefer to receive a little bit of information, and with GW, I learned to be patient xD.

They talk too much or too soon, they're accused of just building hype, promising without delivering, or just taking too darn long to do something.
They talk too little, they're accused of having shitty CR and they don't care about the players.

i dont want to be rude about it so i just throw the reminder up of his own words is all. it's not a big deal, but too say something that emphatically and then nothing is pretty funny. i've waited 3 years or so, i am sure a few more weeks or months won't kill me. just trying to give a lil reminder

You do realize that they have all (and I mean all) been involved with the two trade shows? They had the run up to Gamescom, then the whole company played in the demo so the world would be populated with more than 40-50 clueless people. They got a week to recover and then get ready for PAX, where the whole company, once again, is playing in the demo for the PAX gamers. At least they won't need so much recovery time next week as they are on the same time zone, although after working the entire weekend, they do deserve comp time off.
And, considering that we have been waiting since the release of EotN for this information, I don't think a few weeks wait now is too much with which to cope.

Emphasis is mine, but this post is made of pure threadwin.
I'm as eager for information as the next guy, call me a ravenous wolf. I chew up tiny tidbits of GW2 like its going out of style.
Seriously though, a couple weeks wait isn't that bad. We've been waiting for years since they first announced GW2, so I think a while more isn't all that inhuman to suffer. They just got back from Gamescom, they're just now doing PAX, working a convention isn't just physically draining, its emotionally as well. I've worked in a theatre and a convention hall, it's a lot of work.
So yeah, it's going to take a while for everything to settle down and get back to normal.
As much as I want info NOW, I'm content on waiting.

We wouldn't need to have this discussion if he only wrote "SOON" instead of "VERY SOON."

Not really. The game isn't separate from life. The human brain has difficulty telling the difference between reality and visualization. It's the same reason we enjoy beating down to people we'll never meet; by simulating these experiences, we get the same chemical rewards. All it takes is a person willing to suspend disbelief and all of the sudden they genuinely feel fulfilled. Is having pretty clothes in real life any more substantial than doing it in a game?
For this reason, I wouldn't mind if the Hall of Monuments rewards were completely cosmetic. We're human - no reason to pretend we're above mammalian reward systems. But for that same reason, I'm not willing to look down on somebody for a virtual appearance.

Vanity is about more than looks, it's having too much pride in anything you do or accomplish. To be fair, purchasing a costume is hardly comparative to something as vain as GWAMM.
A friend of mine bought me the costume pack, it costs as much as a movie ticket. I'm wondering if you feel those who spend months earning Obsidian armor are "normal" compared to this. Just throwing that out there.
